Title: Town Manager
Municipality: Town of Duck
Position Interested In: Municipal Manager At-Large
Tell us why you would like to serve in a leadership position at the League. In particular, specify goals you would like to accomplish as an officer or board member and indicate how, if attained, they will help to achieve Vision 2030 – the League’s future vision of how cities and towns will operate in 2030.
I desire to continue my service on the Board as a representative of the North Carolina City/County Management Association. With nearly half of the cities in North Carolina operating under the Council-Manager form of government, professional managers have a broad perspective on issues important to cities of all sizes in this state. As a representative of the organization, I wish to continue to be a conduit for information between the Association and NCLM and a voice for managers on the Board.
Tell us about your experience as a municipal official. You may want to include information on your service on the municipal governing body, other related boards and special areas of interest.
I have served, over the course of my nearly 20 year career in local government, in a small rural mountain community, a slightly larger coastal plain community, a fast growing and large suburban community, and now a small coastal community. Prior to entering this career field, I served as an elected leader in a small rural community that did not have professional management.
Tell us about your educational background, professional experience, and/or community or civic activities.
In terms of education, I have BA in Political Science from Syracuse University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Walden University. My professional experience includes owning/operating a real estate appraisal firm, selling property/casualty/group benefits insurance, serving as a police officer, and long-term service as a volunteer firefighter/EMT including as a state fire service instructor.

Please provide any other information you would like the Nominations Committee to consider.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve a term on the Board and look forward to continuing my service for a second term as a nominee from the Association. I look forward to working with other members of the Board to focus on the core mission of the League and continue its proud tradition of providing quality service to its members.
