I have an appreciation for how art can connect the divided, how creativity can lead to artistic works, but most importantly how it can foster ingenuity, exploration and business incubation. As a member of the Jacksonville City Council I understand the positive impact that nonprofit organizations, while working with and without local government, can have on the total health of a community. The only limits one has is the limits that one may place on oneself; therefore, North Carolina can only be limited by the individuals who see it for what it has been and lack the imagination to see what it is and what it can be.

Tell us about your experience as a municipal official. You may want to include information on your service on the municipal governing body, other related boards and special areas of interest.

My work as a city council member has been dedicated to increasing collaboration with various communities entities to create synergy, which will boost moral for the City of Jacksonville. I understand that it is important to create community cohesiveness for all citizens to the opportunity to feel that they are Jacksonville and the Council should be their voice. I also have been dedicated to working with our youth council, the youth in our community and young adults to encourage them to voice their opinions and work in the community to make an impact now because today’s decisions will effect their future.
