Tell us why you would like to serve in a leadership position at the League. In particular, specify goals you would like to accomplish as an officer or board member and indicate how, if attained, they will help to achieve Vision 2030 – the League’s future vision of how cities and towns will operate in 2030.
Having served on the NCLM Risk Management Board (current as vice chair) I understand the importance of a voice for our municipalities. I would like to encourage collaboration among cities and towns as regards infrastructure, public facilities and quality of life.
Tell us about your experience as a municipal official. You may want to include information on your service on the municipal governing body, other related boards and special areas of interest.
I was most recently NCLM RMS vice chair and still serve until my term ends this summer. I am the treasurer of Centralina COG and representative to NCCOG. I am Statesville's representative to Charlotte Region Regional Transportation Organization, and was appointed to the Economic Development Partnership of NC board of directors. I am currently Mayor Pro Tem of Statesville.
Tell us about your educational background, professional experience, and/or community or civic activities.
BS, Wake Forest University. I own a wealth management firm, Capital Management Group of the Carolinas, Inc, with offices in Statesville and Wilmington. We have been in operation since 1990. I was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Statesville, Board chair of The Dove House advocacy center, the American Red Cross, and President of Fourth Creek Rotary Club.
