As a local elected who has served for many years locally, statewide & nationally I am interested in furthering the the ability for municipal leadership for our communities in regards to revenue, structure & how we function. Charlotte has a focus to advance technology & this should also be at the forefront of our rural areas to shorten the digital divide. I also want to further the relationships and support the goals of our rural neighbors.

Tell us about your experience as a municipal official. You may want to include information on your service on the municipal governing body, other related boards and special areas of interest.

I have served on numerous Boards & Commissions during my initial 8 years of service as the District-3 representative in Charlotte. In this role I led the development of the Charlotte Premium Outlets, created the District 3 Airport Job Fair that ran 7 of my 8 years, the city’s CLT+ App which reduced call time to 311 along with TLCbyCLT housing re-hab program that provided immediate repairs to homes for our most vulnerable residents just to name a few.

As a now At-Large member  I am leading Charlotte’s “Faith in Housing Initiative” with a focus on partnerships with our religious institution to build & support Diverse Price Point Housing.

Tell us about your educational background, professional experience, and/or community or civic activities.

I have served the Charlotte community & beyond for more that 20 years prior to my first election in 2011 on issues of importance to our  unhoused neighbors, those formerly incarcerated and our immigrant community. I am a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Diversity Equity & Inclusion in the Workplace from the USF-MUMA College of Tampa, Fl, and a proud alumni of Central Piedmont Community College with an AAS in Construction Management & Technology along with multiple certifications through the National League of Cities where I have served in numerous leadership roles.
